There are times when it’s probably best not to say anything. I found myself in one of those situations the other day while getting gas at Sam’s Club.
As I was filling up, two employees yelled back and forth to each other and provided the entertainment:
“Hey, Tom! Where’d all the squeegees go?”
“I don’t know. There were some yesterday.”
“What happened?”
“Well, I don’t know, but they were falling apart.”
“They’re ALL gone?”
“Seems that way.”
That’s when I looked over and saw that there was a squeegee in the bucket by my car.
So, I joined in the open conversation: “There’s a squeegee over here!”
“Hey, Tom, he’s got a squeegee over there!”
“OK.”
Tom watched from the booth as the other guy walked over, picked up the squeegee out of the bucket, looked at it and remarked, “This one isn’t in very good shape, either.”
I just went about my business, paid for the gas and then, drove off, biting my tongue the entire time. It took everything in my power not to yell out, “Hey, you guys, they have some really good quality squeegees just up the road at Costco!”
