I Just Had a Flashback

I’m working on a project for work that requires scouring the Internet for weird alarm clocks.

I’ve found some beauts.  One that runs away from you, another that requires you to put puzzle pieces together to make it stop…but I also stumbled across a video on YouTube of one I used to own.

Back in my radio days, I had my main alarm clock set for 2:17am.  With over two decades of doing a morning show behind me, I had slowly refined just how early I had to get up in order to have enough time to assemble a killer show.  So, my clock radio was set for exactly 2:17am.

However, on those burning-the-candles-at-both-ends-and-the-middle types of weeks, it happened on more than one occasion that no matter how hard that clock radio tried, I still didn’t hear it.  Or, in my exhausted stupor, I would get up, turn it off and go back to bed.

I needed a backup. I need insurance.  I needed a Samurai Warrior Clock.  I’m fuzzy on where it came from and I don’t know where it ended up, but I did find a video on YouTube where someone recorded it in action.

Imagine being in a sound sleep and waking up to THIS!

As you can imagine, over the years, I would get up the second the clock radio went off so I could turn off the Samurai and spare that terrifying version of waking up.

Man, am I glad those days are over.
