So, yesterday I had occasion to visit my old haunt, Sandusky radio, in Bellevue, Washington. This is the same place where, five years ago this Christmas, they threw a surprise going away for me and my morning show partners. (“Surprise! You’re going away!”)
While heading back to elevator, I recognized the woman as the host of 92.5 FM’s current incarnation, “Movin’ 92-5”, Monte Carlo. We had exchanged e-mails but never actually met, although I saw her perform once at a comedy club in Kirkland.
Upon my introduction, she gave me a hug and starting talking about things going on and as we got onto the elevator, she said, “You know, this place is haunted”. I asked, “What do you mean?” Monte replied that they had a ghost-hunter in the building and they discovered two ghosts: a man in his 50s and a woman with red hair and pale skin.
By the time she finished this story, we had reached her floor and she dashed out the door. I didn’t have time to share with her my theory: I didn’t know who the 50-ish ghost was, but the red-haired woman with pale skin sure sounded like my late broadcast partner, Alice Porter.
My beliefs allow this to be a possibility and it would make a lot of sense that Alice would find her way back to the place where she was the pinnacle of her radio career. Upon relaying this story to one acquaintance with psychic powers, she said that she sensed Alice was there and angry….but that she wasn’t able to take on something like this.
Yes, just another day in the life. I thought I would share.

Tim,
Bet the “Man in his 50’s” ghost once dated Delilah.
And I’d put money on Alice being the red head. I still miss her and think of her often. Funny thing… I always end up smiling as I do.

I got drummed into serving as a trustee for the Seattle Sons of Norway Lodge. I attended my first meeting the other night and the woman says, “hi Tim, remember me? Laurie Zubich, friend of Shawn & Alice’s?” I remembered meeting her through Alice and of course, seeing her at the funeral in the blur that was that day.
Those days seem like forever ago…..
